Dana Whitney Hayes is a rollerskating enthusiast who doesn’t mind competition. She has been skating for twenty-two years and has been involved in competitive flat track roller derby since 2009. She dabbled in banked-track competition with “Team Rogue” in 2013 where her team placed 2nd overall in the Derby Ink Invitational. She co-captains for Maine Roller Derby’s All-Star travel team, “The Port Authorities,” and is a proud member of her league’s Training Committee. Through MRD’s Youth Outreach committee, Dana, along with fellow league mates, are working to establish a junior roller derby league in the state of Maine. The same committee is also established under Central Maine Roller Derby’s anti- bullying program, “Skate Don’t Hate” in which derby athletes from Maine present at schools and roller rinks around the state to promote tolerance and acceptance, what it means to be a part of a team, and speaking out against bullying.
