<image:caption>Gracia is a senior at Westbrook High School with a background from being of Congolese and Rwandan decent as a first generation . She has a desire to help first generation children living in the U.S gain better relationships with their parents by reminding them that they do not have to pick between “one culture or the other” and it’s their right to exist in both. Alongside that, she feels strongly about creating racial equity specifically within school systems and having their be acknowledgment for the school to prision pipeline that is occurring. Along with being a student activist, Gracia can be recognized as being a strong supporter as well as former camper to the non profit Seeds of Peace, her communities school board student representative as well as being the 2019 Girls Nation Outstanding Senator in Washington D.C. and being 1 of 140 delegates worldwide to attend the International Congress of Youth Voices in San Juan Puerto Rico. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to high school sweethearts and the children of immigrants who taught him to value books, labor politics, irony, social justice, and show tunes. He has lived in Portland, Maine since 1998. In his work life he has been a corporate copywriter, a book editor, and a school teacher. In 2001 he founded Cultivating Community, a non-profit that grows sustainable communities by expanding access to healthy, local food; empowering children, youth, and adults to play diverse roles in restoring the local, sustainable food systems; and modeling, teaching, and advocating for ecological food production. He was originally motivated by the untapped creativity he witnessed among his teenage students. He has since found satisfaction looking for ways to be of use to people as they try to solve problems and address injustices in their own communities. Later this month, Craig and his family will fulfill a longtime dream when they move to their own farm in Pownal, Maine.</image:caption>

Mindbridge’s Services include research where interdisciplinary methods and procedures are used to design, collect and analyze data answering questions of central importance to human rights organizations and civil society spaces; assessment where psychological and neurobiological tools are used to help evaluate program performance and impact; and education where the latest science is made accessible through workshops, seminars and publications, translating research into meaningful impacts in peoples' lives. Laura’s interest in the intersection of neuroscience and human rights emerged as a coordinator at the Saxelab Social Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory at MIT, where neurobiological research often sought to understand the biological underpinnings of implicit bias, inter-ethnic social conflict, violence and conversely collective empowerment and change. Laura’s work on inter-ethnic social conflict sought to elucidate the bidirectional, mutual constitution of culture and neurobiological processes that give rise to bias, discrimination and violence. To date Laura has written numerous scientific publications and has partnered with organizations around the world bridging science to application.
