Nolan Buck
Nolan is a bassist from the rural town of Bowdoinham, right by Topsham and Brunswick. Music is incredibly important to him, as it has been with him for all of his life. His parents and grandparents all play musical instruments, and that influence has been passed down to him; he now uses it as a way of expressing himself and dealing with troubles. The main styles of music Nolan plays are jazz and progressive metal. Specifically, the progressive metal offshoot known as djent. Over the past two years, he has ranked top in the state for Electric Jazz Bass at the MMEA Jazz All-State Festivals. He has also participated in District 3 ensembles. He is particularly proud of this past year's Jazz All-State combo performance. Nolan plans to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston and pursue music as a professional career. Nolan's inspirations range from the likes of jazz bassists Jaco Pastorius, Scott LaFaro, and Adam Neely, all the way to bands such as The Contortionist and Meshuggah. Nolan hopes you enjoy the talks and performances!
